Although tricks and illusions have been around for many centuries, magic books have only gained popularity in recent years. Before the advent of instructional books, magicians had to take solemn oaths not to reveal any tricks of the trade. No joke.

Some of the most popular tricks learned in magic books include:
• Card tricks
• Ring tricks
• Coin tricks
• Mirror tricks

Besides showing a beginner how to perform illusions, magic books will also give tips to becoming a successful magician. For example, many tricksters recommend practicing in front of the mirror and controlling the seating-arrangement of the audience (many tricks work better if the audience looks straight on).
