Magic kits

Illusions are universal forms of entertainment, loved by young and old alike. Basic magic set are perfect springboards because they contain simple tricks which are easy to master – kind of like Illusions 101.

Typical magic kits include:
• Ring tricks
• Coin tricks
• Mirror tricks
• Card tricks

One of the best beginner tricks involves a svengali card deck. These decks alternate the same card throughout, which is cut differently than the other cards. However, these cannot be inspected by an audience member because they’re easy to discern.

Q: What is the Magician’s Oath?
A: As a magician I promise never to reveal the secret of any illusion to a non-magician, unless that one swears to uphold the Magician's Oath in turn. I promise never to perform any illusion for any non-magician without first practicing the effect until I can perform it well enough to maintain the illusion of magic.

Q: What’s a stripper deck?
A: A stripper deck is standard in any magic kit, and it gives the magician the ability to control where the position of a card or group of cards is in the deck. It can also be inspected by an audience member.

Q: Who’s David Blaine?
A: He’s one of the most popular street magicians today. He combines traditional illusions with fantastic feats of human endurance that rival those of the great Houdini.
