Magic ring
The magic ring trick (also called linking rings) is one
of the oldest tricks in the magician’s handbook. Although they
typically don’t come in standard illusion sets, they are readily-available
in any specialty/novelty shop.
The magic ring trick includes three rings which are about one foot
in diameter – one of them is solid and the other two are half-rings
which are held to look like they are solid. With a slight of hand, the
magician appears to put the solid in between the two other “solid”
rings.
Despite the general familiarity with the magic ring trick, it’s
still one of the most enjoyable to watch (if executed properly). Newer
rings have magnets that close the gaps, however these can sometimes
become stuck – and watching a magician trying to “unstuck”
the rings he put together can be very embarrassing.
The magic cup and ball trick is a standard illusion that relies on
slight of hand and misdirection.
